Joseph C. Dwyer |
Mr. Joseph C. Dwyer was born in Cortland, New York and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950 and he then received his Juris Doctor in 1952 from the Cornell Law School. Mr. Dwyer was admitted to the New York bar in 1953 and the Pennsylvania Bar in 1988. He was also admitted to the New York Western District Court in 1971 and the United States Supreme Court in 1974. He was counsel for the New York State Senate Judiciary Committee, 1961-1962, Member of the House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association (1984-87), National Panel of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association (Member, PBA Arbitration and Mediation Committee 1996), Trustee, Cattaraugus County Law Library, 1997-2005. Member: Cattaraugus County (President, 1961), 8th Judicial District (Member, Judicial Advisory Council, 1993-2002) and New York State (Member Committee on Automobile Liability Legislation, 1981-19084) Bar Associations; New York State Trial Lawyers Association (Member, Committee on Products Liability, 1981-1984); The Association of Trial Lawyers Association. Fellow, Roscoe Pound, American Trial Lawyers Foundation. (Diplomat) and New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Dwyer is a Civil Trial Advocate of the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Such persons must document their experience, prove that they devote a substantial portion of their practice to civil trial advocacy, submit writing samples for evaluation, show proof of actively pursuing continuing legal education, submit references from numerous attorneys and judges as well as undergoing a rigorous examination process. After fulfilling all of these requirements then and only then is an attorney recognized as a Civil Trial Advocate. Mr. Dwyer is also a member of the New York State Association of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Dwyer is a US Navy Veteran of World War II, played football for Cornell University and has resided in the Olean area for over 45 years. He has been active in coaching football and as a supporter of St. Bonaventure University athletics. He and his wife Elaine live on York Street in Olean with their children. Mr. Dwyer has also been active in the American Red Cross, Kiwanis Club, Olean Jaycees and the American Legion.

Jeffrey A. Black |
Mr. Jeffrey A. Black joined this firm in 1993 and became a partner in 1994. Mr. Black is a lifelong resident of Olean, New York and an Olean High School Graduate. Mr. Black obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1990 and Graduated cum laude from The Dickinson School of Law in 1993. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Black was admitted to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New York. He is also admitted to practice law in the Western District of Pennsylvania and in the Western and Southern Districts of New York.
Mr. Black is a member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association, New York State Trial Lawyer’s Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Trial Lawyer’s Association, Allegany County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association as well as a past President of the Cattaraugus County Bar Association.
Mr. Black and his wife Mary Jo reside in Olean with their three children. Mr. Black is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cattaraugus County United Way and is active in St. Mary’s of the Angels Parish and the Olean YMCA. Mr. Black specializes in handling personal injury, products liability, general litigation and insurance matters in Pennsylvania and New York and has extensive trial experience.

Ethan M. Lyle |
Mr. Ethan M. Lyle joined the firm in August of 1999 after his graduation from law school. Mr. Lyle is a long-time resident of Sheffield, Pennsylvania and much of his family lives in northwestern Pennsylvania. Mr. Lyle graduated from Lock Haven University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and then went on to attend The Dickinson School of Law, graduating with a law degree in 1999. Since his graduation from law school, Mr. Lyle has been admitted to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New York.
Mr. Lyle is also admitted to practice law in Federal Court in both the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Western District of New York. Currently, he is a member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association, New York State Trial Lawyer’s Association, Pennsylvania Association of Trial Lawyers, American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, New York State Bar Association as well as the local Bar Associations for both Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
Mr. Lyle currently resides in Portville with his wife Barbara and their two children. Mr. Lyle is looking forward to becoming an active participant in his new home community. In his free time he enjoys basketball, golf and many outdoor activities. Mr. Lyle handles personal injury, general litigation and insurance matters in both Pennsylvania and New York.
